Serena Avoids Match Versus Venus Williams In Madrid
10.28.2007 MADRID-- Venus Williams today it was announced withdrew from Madrid to rest and seek more treatment from the dizziness/fatigue which have bothered her since this summer. This means that Serena Williams will not have to play Venus on the WTA Tour until January at the earliest.

10.20.2007 MADRID-- Serena Williams has qualified for next month's season-ending WTA Championships in Madrid. The championship features the season's top eight singles players. Serena's sister Venus Williams may also get of of the remaining berths in the Madrid championships Nov. 6-11. Serena has not played Venus Williams this year.

Serena Williams Retires Hurt From Zurich Match
10.20.2007 ZURICH-- Serena Williams retired from the Zurich Open with a right adductor injury after losing the first nine games to Swiss left-hander Patty Schnyder Tuesday. After losing the opening three games she briefly left the court with the trainer and returned with the tape removed. Williams did not appear too distressed after the match, and revealed that she had little idea how she developed the injury. "Yesterday I had a really good practice and was feeling really good," said Williams. "Then today I felt it completely out of the blue right before I went to warm up. It was really weird. "The physio said in Moscow when my right knee was hurting that I was over-compensating, and that probably had something to do with it. They told me I should be fine for Madrid. I just need to take a day off or two."

Serena Williams To Play This Week In Zurich
10.14.2007 ZURICH-- Serena Williams this week competes at the Zurich Open in Switzerland and has a tough draw. In round one Tuesday or Wednesday, she faces tough lefty Patty Schnyder of Switzerland. Head to head Serena leads Patty 6-2, but Patty won their last meeting 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(7-5) in Rome earlier this year. That meeting was on clay so this should be a faster surface which should favor Serena's power game more than Patty's finesse game.

Serena Williams Loses To Dementieva At Moscow
10.14.2007 MOSCOW-- Serena Williams today played well enough to win set one then made too many errors as she lost 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 in the final to Russia's Elena Dementieva. Elena also stepped up her aggressive play after the first set. Previously in the week Serena defeated Nicole Vaidisova in the quarterfinals 6-4, 7-6(9-7) and beat Svetlana Kuznetsova 7-6(7-2), 6-1. Serena Williams To Meet Nicole Vaidisova Friday
10.11.2007 MOSCOW-- Serena Williams Thursday in the second round defeated Tatiana Perebiynis 7-5, 6-4 to set up a Friday quarterfinal versus Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic. Head to head Serena leads Nicole 2-0, last winning in Miami this spring 6-1, 6-4. Serena will need move better than in recent matches and deliver a low error count to win. If Serena wins, the Tennis Channel will show her semifinal live Saturday.

10.10.2007 STUTTGART-- Serena Williams last week won one match in the second round after being awarded a first round bye, defeating Julia Vakulenko 7-5, 6-2. In the quarterfinals Williams made too many errors however and looked a step slow as she lost to second seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia 6-3, 6-3. Williams is scheduled to play this week in Moscow. More to come.
